Attorney Michael Doukas enjoys fighting his client's battles against all comers--major banks, attorneys, debt collectors, major corporations. It doesn't matter who is against him.
He began practicing law as general counsel for several closely-held, real estate firms that leased commercial and light industrial property to businesses in the Oceanside area. During that time, he served as counsel for the purchase, sale, and leasing of commercial real estate. He also managed and participated in real estate litigation, both plaintiff and defense side.
After entering general practice, he focused on litigation and consumer financial matters, which dominate his work. He enjoys the confrontation and the problem solving inherent in litigation, and that results are clearly produced, often times on behalf of the "little guy." He is a great believer in mediation and other forms of negotiation that often achieve a settlement that provides a win-win solution for all parties. However, when necessary, Michael Doukas is a successful trial lawyer. He has litigated extensively in state and federal court since 1996.
Mr. Doukas is especially honored to have defended and prosecuted cases for many enlisted servicemembers and officers, including Marines of all enlisted ranks and Navy sailors and their families. He has done pro bono work to support our troops. Too often our troops are easy targets for debt collectors and creditors who wave the flag with one hand, but exploit our servicemembers with the other hand. The Superior Court has appointed Mr. Doukas to represent absent servicemembers under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to determine eligibility for a stay of a pending case.
Attorney Michael Doukas is on the highly-regarded lawyer referral panels of the North County Bar Association and the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Doukas has provided on-going support to Navy JAG in training young JAG attorneys in consumer law and consulting on their cases on a pro bono basis.
Lawyer Referral Service Honors Attorney Doukas
In 1998, he was honored for his exemplary dedication and extraordinary contributions to the Lawyer Referral Service of the North County Bar Association based on referral work undertaken that advanced consumer advocacy in San Diego County. In 2005, the North County Bar recognized him again for outstanding dedication and service in support of the purposes of the bar association. In 2010, the North County Bar recognized Michael Doukas for his service on the pro bono panel supporting our troops under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act as court-appointed counsel.

Admitted to practice in the state and federal trial courts of California, attorney Doukas is also admitted to practice before California's Fourth District Court of Appeals and the federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Pro Tem Judge
He has also served as a Pro Tem Judge of the Small Claims Court, Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, for several years.
Education
Mr. Doukas is an Alumnus of the U.S. Naval Academy, Class of 1974. He has a Bachelor's Degree from McDaniel College, and a Master's Degree in Technology of Management from the College of Public & International Affairs at The American University. Prior to practicing law, Michael Doukas had a career for over ten years in Washington, DC, employed primarily by the Department of the Air Force, where he was on loan to various federal agencies as an internal government consultant, managing various project teams. In 1982, his agency was awarded the Air Force organizational Excellence Award. He obtained his law degree from the California Western School of Law.
